Emergency Professional Services

EPS provides emergency services to the metropolitan Phoenix area. We have joined up with a multitude of elite medical and business organizations to provide the best patient care that is held to the highest standard.
Banner Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center
A Magnet Hospital. Banner Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center is located at 1111 E. McDowell Rd in central Phoenix has been serving the area since 1911. EPS is proud to have Dr. Robert Baron as the Chairman of the Banner Good Samaritan Emergency Department. Dr. David Streitwieser will be the assuming the Medical Chief of Staff position in January of 2007. Banner Good Samaritan medical center is a 770 bed tertiary referral center with residency programs in medicine, family practice, surgery, orthopedics, ob-gyn, and psychiatry.  We are an active level I trauma center with fellowships in cardiology and gastroenterology.  A virtual reality education center will be opening in July, 2006. The Emergency Department Physicians have a direct role in both patient care and teaching responsibilities.
 
Banner Estrella Medical Center
Banner Estrella is one of the newest Medical Centers to join the Banner Health System located at 9201 W. Thomas Rd. This hospital opened in January of 2005 and is serving quality patient care to the communities of Avondale, Buckeye, Gleaned, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Peoria, Surprise, Tolleson, and western Phoenix. EPS is proud to have Dr. David Cohen to be the Medical Director of the Banner Estrella Emergency Center. Banner Estrella Medical Center is 214 bed community hospital.  The hospital is virtually paperless with a full Electronic Medical Record and Computer Provider Order Entry.  Other unique features are its centralized peer review process and its requirement of Board Certification for all physicians.  The Emergency Department has rapidly grown to the 2nd busiest in the Arizona Region of the Banner system with a 2010 volume of 87,540 visits. We have the lowest length of stay within Banner Arizona - well under 4 hours.  
Banner Ironwood Medical Center
Banner Ironwood is Banner Health's newest hospital. It serves San Tan Valley, AZ, an area East of Phoenix that prior to this hospital being built, was relying on it's closest medical center being 12 miles away. The hospital opened on November 1st, 2010 as a small facility on an 80 acre campus with expansion plans to grow as the need for services grows. Currently the ED has 13 mixed use intake rooms, a continuing care/holding are, 7 acute care beds, 2 major treatment/trauma beds. The hospital has 24 mixed used beds designed to be used for everything from Med/Surg to ICU. In addition, there is a 12 bed OB unit. The hospital is supported by hospitalists, general surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists and obstetricians. Despite it's size, Ironwood benefits from the technology of Banner Health's larger institutions with fully electronic medical records and physician order entry as well at CT, MRI, US, etc... EPS is active in hospital leadership with members of the group acting as Chair of the Department of Medicine and Vice Chief of Staff. We are proud to have been selected to staff this ED with an expected volume this first year of 28,000 patients.  
Banner Page
Banner Page is a full-service hospital located in Page, Arizona at the base of beautiful lake Powell. With it's brand new state of the art Emergency Department, Page Hospital now leads the Western Region in length of stay, door to doctor time, and patient satisfaction. EPS is proud to be a part of Banner Page and is proud of our ability to provide high quality care in a remote destination community. Yearly volumes are approximately 8,500 and bring visitors from the local community and travelers from around the globe. Banner Page is located at: 501 N Navajo, P.O. Box 1447, Page, AZ. 86040

AirEvac
Emergency Professional Services is proud to be the base station contact for all AirEvac flight. Founded in 1969, AirEvac Services is the premier air medical transportation company in the United States with eleven locations in Arizona. AirEvac is a wholly owned subsidiary of Petroleum Helicopter, Inc. out of Lafayette, Louisiana. Quality Individuals Make a Difference. AirEvac provides quality medical care with expertly trained medical and flight teams. AirEvac maintains specialty teams specifically trained for adult/pediatric patients, high-risk maternal patients and neonate patients. AirEvac utilizes flight nurse/respiratory therapist or flight nurse/paramedic teams at eight bases in Arizona. The aviation teams of pilots are specifically qualified for emergency transportation with 2000+ flight hours before becoming Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pilots; mechanics go through rigorous training and experience requirements to prepare fro EMS responsibilities. AirEvac transports approximately 6500 patients annually and since 1969 has logged more then 25 million flight miles around the world.

MedAire
EPS is proud to support MEDLINK, a service of MedAire, Inc. to provide 24 hour emergency medical support to commercial airlines around the world. Communications between physicians and flight crews are facilitated through state of the art global response centers. Support is offered in over 140 languages.

EPS has partnered with PracticeMax to provide billing service to all of our patients. PracticeMax provides superior business office solutions by providing quality financial care to EPS patients.

National Parks
Dr. Baron is the Medical Advisor for Emergency Medical Services at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (Lake Powell) since 1983.  In that role he is responsible for overseeing all of the care that is administered in the Park by the Rangers.  They administer care utilizing Standing Orders and with the assistance of “On Line Medical Control” provided by the physicians of EPS, PC.  He enjoys the monthly one day visits to the park where they have a “Tape and Chart” session usually consisting of a review of recorded “patches” to Medical Control, review of written documentation of the care provided by them and education sessions on various topics. 

Phoenix Fire Department
EPS is proud to have Dr. Stephen Reinhart as the Base Station Medical Director for both Good Samaritan and Banner Estrella. He helps to supervise the activities of pre-hospital care providers assigned to the two facilities including CME, QA, along with follow -up care on any issues that may occur in the pre-hospital arena. He serves as one of the physicians designated for Centralized Medical Control and provides pre-hospital medical direction to Phoenix Fire Department paramedics. In addition to that, Dr. Reinhart spend his time working as a physician in the Phoenix Fire Department Health Center to provide health related services to  members of  19  Fire Departments across the Valley. He is also one of the Medical Team Managers for the FEMA sponsored Arizona Task Force. FEMA has provided search and rescue support to major disasters such as the Oklahoma Murrah Federal Building Bombing, the World Trade Center Disaster, and most recently Hurricane Katrina.
